Position Summary:
The Shift Nurse is responsible for assisting in providing health and safety services to campers and staff participating in day and overnight camp programs. Shifts include 8:30am-3:30pm, (alternative shift times during overnight programming: 7am- 3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am).
Qualifications:
- Must currently be licensed as an RN or LPN in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Current first aid and CPR certifications
Experience in first aid and, or emergency management services
Experience in both children and, or adult illness/injury care
Desire and ability to work with children with special needs
Ability to display a mature, professional standard
Ability to work as part of a team, cooperate with staff and other professionals
Enthusiasm, flexibility, patience, adaptability
18 years of age or older
All applicable PA state clearances
Mandated reporter training
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds regularly and repeatedly
o Physically able to push or manipulate wheelchairs as needed
o Physically able to lift, pivot and transfer campers with assistant
General Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Education and Recreation Programs, assist in providing health care and first aid services to meet the needs of day and overnight campers.
Assist with daily medication management and administration.
Help supervise and care for campers and/or staff on campus or that are admitted to the Health Center for care.
Provide CPR and First Aid coverage as needed
Provide direct care to staff within the scope of their skills, the camp’s health care manual, and treatment procedures.
Provide appropriate administration and documentation of medication
Follow incident protocol and ensure it is properly and thoroughly documented.
Timely and professional communication with parents and Nurse Manager as needed.
Assist in maintenance and upkeep of Health Center.
