Summer Vocational Program Support Staff

Brief Description: Through a variety of different vocational areas including a snack bar, a bakery, a greenhouse, pop-up community shops, and more, we look to provide our students with an immersive and engaging experience; all while keeping the fun of summer alive in a camp based atmosphere. Staff members should be energetic, enjoy working with students ages 16-21, be able to model appropriate and dedicated work skills, and like to have fun. We are looking for staff members to lead groups of 3 students throughout this hands-on vocational experience for 7 weeks in the summer. Young educators interested in learning more about working with transition aged youth are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Implement student goals under the direction of Vocational Coordinator.

Support Vocational Coordinator in recording data and progress monitoring.

Implement behavioral plans and positive supports for students as necessary.

Assist students in all aspects of daily programming including, but not limited to: social, academic, vocational, behavioral, and personal care growth and development

Assist in the direct supervision of students in the assigned program as directed by the coordinator or supervisors (e.g. vocational assignments, lunch, pool, etc.)

Model and maintain appropriate behavioral expectations across all environments, including but not limited to: conversation and social engagement, clean-up and self-care activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.

Assist in ensuring the safety and well-being of all students within the program.

Maintain cleanly equipment and work areas.

Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of program function.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with people with disabilities desired
  • Knowledge of behavioral modification strategies and positive supports strongly desired
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) based interventions preferred
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills, and demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, staff, and parents. They are passionate, creative, and flexible!

Working Conditions: Vocational training atmosphere, in both indoor and outdoor settings. Exposure to body fluids, noises, and disagreeable odors.

Physical Conditions: Work type varies with short periods of standing, walking, moving, swimming, and light to moderate lifting.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour

  • Norristown, PA 19403: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
