Golf Buddies Program
Variety – The Children’s Charity and the Philadelphia Section of the PGA of America collaborated to create the “Golf Buddies Program” to enhance the lives of children with physical and developmental disabilities through the game of golf. This program is open to children and youth between the ages of 5-21 with a physical or developmental disability. Participants are paired with a local PGA Professional who provides individual golf instruction. The goal of the Golf Buddies Program is to establish a meaningful friendship between both parties as the child is learning the fundamentals of golf while elevating the child’s self-esteem. Through this program, children with special needs gain confidence and independence while building a life-long friendship.
The Golf Buddy Program requires the parent/guardian to show a strong commitment to the child’s learning process. Once paired with a PGA Professional, it is the responsibility of the parent to arrange the child’s golf lessons at a mutually agreeable time with the PGA Professional. Parents must attend the lessons with their child.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. This program runs year-round. There is no fee to participate in this program; however, a contract will be developed between the golfer, their family and the PGA Professional to ensure that all parties involved understand the important commitment of participation in the program. Once your application has been received, Variety staff will coordinate with the Philadelphia Section PGA to arrange a match between your child and a PGA Professional at a course near your home.
