Variety Afterschool program provides a safe environment for students with disabilities to engage in educational, recreational, therapeutic, cultural, and social activities during the after school hours. Our After School Programs help school age children build emotional, social and academic skills through extra learning activities, homework assistance, job skill training, and structured cultural and sports activities. Our programs are offered in three locations throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. Our programs are composed of special education teachers, in the Philadelphia School District and qualified support staff with several years of experience working with youth. In each of our sites we have a 1:7 staff to student ratio. A typical day at one of our programs may include: homework assistance, health and nutrition, life skills, sports, art, music, and cultural enrichment. Group Supervisor: One full-time (at least 30 hours per week) Group Supervisor for each group or partial group of 45 who will attend programming daily. Group Supervisors must dedicate 100% of their time to the out of school time program. Group Supervisors can coordinate Assistant Group Supervisors and can lead children's groups, directly.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a closely related field; or Associates degree in early childhood education or a closely related field with two (2) years of experience with children.
The after school program Group Supervisor will supervise the School Year program with students with developmental disabilities from 9/12/2017-06/12/2017 (school year). Hours from 3:00pm to 6:00 p M-F Additional training is required prior to program start. The Group Supervisor duties will consist of planning and implementing daily program activities, coordinating activities of aides, assisting the director with designated activities, data entry, Attendance compliance, payroll and organizing of files.
