Organizational Overview Variety—The Children’s Charity of Greater Philadelphia, is an independent 501 (c)3 corporation which is chartered by Variety International. The organization’s mission is to build self-confidence and independence in children with disabilities by engaging them in educational, recreational and social activities.

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the MSEPRD, the Communications Coordinator will work to develop and implement the systems needed to build and manage effective communications to all stakeholders involved with the organization including; families, clients, donors, board members, etc. The Communications Coordinator will also be expected to support the MSEPRD as directed.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Overall:

  • Attend regular planning and update meetings with the MSEPRD
  • Coordination of drafting, creation, and distribution of various correspondence, marketing, program, event and membership materials, both in print and electronic form.
  • Assist with the team to coordinate & write Variety’s newsletters

 

Communications:

  • Coordinate and design strategic communications with key staff for events and projects
  • Examples include, but are not specifically limited to, the following: Annual Report, Quarterly Newsletter, Sponsorship Proposals, Lead-Up & Recap Stories for all Events and Programs, Media Releases & Advisories, Calendar of Events
  • Stay up to date and manage all social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter & Instagram, including ability to track insights
  • Oversee and manage all content on website

 

Other:

      • Continue Building In-House Media Library
      • Support Events on an as needed basis, including attendance at key events, some of which fall on evenings and weekends
      • Other Duties as Assigned

 

Desired Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field

– Exhibits above average tactical writing skills, including feature articles, social media posts, blogs, press releases etc.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Publisher or other design program; Excel experience helpful

Knowledge of Word Press required, some experience with HTML and CSS coding preferred

Ability to work independently and within a team

– Ability to multi-task effectively and meet deadlines

– Photography, Video editing experience a plus
