On Wednesday, July 31^st, we hosted the annual Annie Madden Sunshine Games. Children and young adults with disabilities who are participating in summer programs at Variety enjoyed a special day full of games and activities including yard games and a dunk tank. We also had a special guest – Bob Kelly from Fox 29!

The Annie Madden Sunshine Games honor Annie Madden, a Variety camp counselor who tragically lost her life in a car accident in 1999. A year after her death, her parents, Jim and Mary Ellen, decided there was no better way to invoke Annie’s memory than an annual care-free day of fun for campers and friends of Annie. The tradition of the Annie Madden Sunshine Games was born and has continued since.

Thank you to the Philadelphia Eagles and several volunteers from local organizations, including Aetna/CVS, Firstrust Bank and Wegmans, who were in attendance to help facilitate the various activities throughout the day. Campers and staff also enjoyed a BBQ lunch, courtesy of Wegmans Montgomeryville, and a frozen treat from Cream and Ice Ice Cream Truck.
