After School Program Youth Worker

Variety After School program provides a safe environment for students with disabilities to engage in educational, recreational, therapeutic, cultural, and social activities during the after school hours. Our After School Programs help school age children build emotional, social and academic skills through extra learning activities, homework assistance, job skill training, and structured cultural and sports activities. Our programs are offered in three locations throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. Our programs are composed of special education teachers in the Philadelphia School District and qualified support staff with several years of experience working with youth.  In each of our sites we have a 1:7 staff to student ratio.  A typical day at one of our programs may include: homework assistance, health and nutrition, life skills, sports, art, music, and cultural enrichment. All employees will be required to have a health assessment, FBI, child abuse, and PA state clearances prior to employment.

Youth Worker:

Youth workers are supervised by the Director or Group Supervisor, and can be instructed in assisting with children’s groups. Youth workers must be supervised at all times Groups can be made up by age, activity, interest, etc.


A high school diploma with 1 year of experience with children.


The After School program Youth Worker will assist the school year program with students with developmental disabilities for the 2018-2019 school year from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM from Monday through Friday. Additional training is required prior to program start.  The After School Program Youth Worker will assist the team in the implementation of the students IEP goals, and assist the student as necessary with all activities.  All other responsibilities include keeping progress notes for students and communication with parents through monthly newsletters.
